GW at Philadelphia. GW wrote to the Senate nominating Abraham Ogden as Attorney for the United States in the District of N.J., which was confirmed the next day. GW also presented to Congress a copy of the N.J. legislature act, which gave jurisdiction of a lighthouse property in Monmouth County to the federal government.

Surveyor John Adlum and Dr. Reuben Gilder wrote GW asking for government appointments, but neither would receive a post from GW.

Diego de Gardoqui, the new Director of the Department of Commerce in Spain, sent a letter in which he announced his commitment to promoting the mutual interests of the States and Spain.
