GW at Georgetown, Md. GW met with various men who owned land within the boundaries of the proposed federal capital in order to settle their quarrelling and make them work together to establish the city. Later, he dined with several others at the home of Col. Uriah Forrest, who owned 1,000 acres north of Georgetown. GW wrote to S.C. Gov. Charles Pinckney declining his offer of lodging at his home in Charleston, citing his policy of not wanting to inconvenience private families.
