GW was in Alexandria, Virginia. On this day, GW wrote a letter to Col. James Innes, commander of an independent N.C. regiment; however, this letter has not been found and its contents are unknown. It is likely GW expressed misgivings about his orders to march over the Alleghenies to confront the French at Fort Necessity in Pennsylvania.
