GW at Philadelphia. Hyacinth de Chappedelaine, a French nobleman and military officer, wrote a letter to GW wishing to continue their good relationship. He declared his establishment of a settlement on Sapelo Island near the Ga. coast and asked GW to look favorably upon it. However, the settlement likely fell apart soon after this request.

Rector of N.H. Queen’s Chapel John Ogden, who would soon be embroiled in sectarian controversies, wrote GW a letter discussing the extension of liberty and protection to the church.
