GW at Philadelphia. GW wrote the Senate, nominating over 50 officers to vacant military positions created by recent legislation.

Hannah Gordon wrote to GW outlining her situation as an American widow living in Great Britain. She asked that GW help her reclaim her lands in Pa. GW, in July, declined to assist in her affairs.

Va. Senator Josiah Parker, R.I. Senators Joseph Stanton and Theodore Foster, and Congressman Benjamin Contee wrote to GW recommending men for various positions created by recent legislation, particularly the Excise Bill, but none of the suggested men would receive appointments.
