GW wrote a letter to Benjamin Harrison of the Va. Legislature. He assured Harrison that their friendship had not suffered despite their political differences. GW explained that should he become president, though “Heaven knows that no event can be less desired by me,” he would perform his duties motivated by the public good.
Former artillery commander Henry Knox wrote to GW from N.Y., updating him on the political assemblage there.
