GW at Mount Vernon where the wind blew “very fresh” though the day.

After rather flirtatious remarks to begin his letter, GW gave Elizabeth Willing Powel an “Account of the Stages on the Road” during his journey back from Philadelphia.  He detailed taverns and lodgings at Wilmington, Del.,  Baltimore, and several smaller places. He found the roads drier than expected and arrived home without an accident.

In acknowledging a letter from Alexander Spotswood, GW wished his friend soon leaving for a visit to Kentucky a "prosperous journey and safe return."
