GW at Philadelphia. Governor of Surinam Juriaen François de Friderici wrote GW introducing physician and writer David Nassy, an immigrant to the U.S. from Surinam. Former Creek Indian agent Marinus Willett wrote GW again declining his appointment as brigadier general in the force raised to battle hostile Indians, which he had now officially received.

George Augustine Washington, GW’s nephew and Mount Vernon manager, wrote GW in response to his letter of 8 April.
