GW at Annapolis, Md. GW spent the day preparing for his trip to Georgetown, Md., where he would have a meeting with those involved with establishing the Federal City. GW wrote to the faculty of St. John’s College thanking them for their hospitality during the tour he took there the previous day. GW also wrote a letter to Martha Washington, which has not been found. He dined  that night with Md. Gov. John Eager Howard and attended a ball until half past 10:00.

Maj. Pierre-Charles L’Enfant wrote GW a memorandum describing his surveys of the land chosen for the Federal City.
