GW at Alexandria, Va., where his diary indicates that he spent “all day” in committee.  GW’s diary does not place him at Mount Vernon until 19 Jan., but a letter he wrote William Bronaugh on 18 Jan. reads “Mount Vernon” in its dateline.  That letter proposed the drawing of lots to settle differences in the division of a 7,894-acre tract on the Great Kanawha River. George Muse and James Craik were others parties in this dispute.
