GW was in Alexandria, Va. with his regiment. Though ordered to go to Wills Creek, Md., he had great apprehensions about these orders due to lack of manpower, supplies, and morale.

GW arrived at Belvoir, Va., the estate of Col. William Fairfax, on the southern shore of the Potomac.  He stopped here to rest before his trip to Williamsburg, Virginia.
