GW at Philadelphia. GW wrote to Daniel Carroll, a commissioner of the federal city, explaining that next Monday he would depart for his southern tour. GW wrote to Georgetown, Md. merchants William Deakins, Jr. and Benjamin Stoddert, enclosing letters they could give to citizens whose land was being bought for the federal city.

The Seneca Chiefs wrote to GW complaining that Americans had killed some of their men after GW had promised them peace.
