GW at Philadelphia. GW presented to Congress a copy of a letter from the President of the National Assembly of France, which mourned the passing of Benjamin Franklin.

Lawyer Alexander Dallas sent GW his book Reports of Cases Ruled and Adjudged in the Courts of Pennsylvania, which was produced in the United States. GW later placed it in his library. Peter Legaux wrote asking GW to lend him money so that he could purchase an estate in Pa., but GW did not assist in purchasing the Spring Mill property.
