GW in N.Y. GW sent a copy to Congress of the R.I. legislature act that called for a convention to discuss ratification of the Constitution. In his diary, GW noted that in the evening, several members of his cabinet and other important people dined at his house, including Vice President John Adams and Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton.
