From Mount Vernon, GW wrote to Battaile Muse, his agent for collecting rents from his tenants. GW gave him instructions on financial matters related to managing his lands, including taxes.

Former artillery commander Henry Knox sent GW another update from N.Y. Knox regretfully explained that no new members of the Congress had arrived and that inquiring letters had been sent to the absent members of Md., Del., and Va.
