From Mount Vernon, GW wrote his nephew Robert Lewis to give him instructions on preparing for his new job as GW’s secretary.

Anonymous writer “H.Z.” sent GW a highly charged letter from Albany, N.Y. H.Z. cautioned GW against trusting his friend Alexander Hamilton, whom he accused of undermining GW’s military reputation during the war.

Mennonite minister Francis Van der Kemp wrote to enthusiastically tell GW that he would send the requested Mangoul-Root seeds as soon as they arrived from Holland.
