GW at Mount Vernon. He recorded in his diary that he was at home all day. George Diggs, who lived at Warburton Manor across the river from Mount Vernon, visited him in the afternoon.
James Cleveland, whom GW had hired to develop his Ohio and Kanawha lands, wrote a letter in response to one GW wrote to him on 10 Jan. Cleveland informed GW that he purchased the corn and bacon that GW had requested and was having trouble obtaining the nails and tools. John Washington of Leedstown also wrote GW a letter, which has not been found.
