GW at Philadelphia. Caleb Brewster wrote GW from Fairfield, Conn. detailing his military service and injuries in the Revolutionary War, which resulted in him becoming an invalid. The Congress would later place him on the pension list.
Lafayette wrote GW from Paris about the events of the French Revolution, including the military coalition against France, the unsuitability of Gouverneur Morris as United States Minister to France, the French constitution, relations between King Louis XVI and the Assembly, and Lafayette’s military command.
