Attorney General Edmund Randolph wrote Tobias Lear, GW’s personal secretary, wishing GW a happy birthday and apologizing for not being able to meet with him, being ill.

GW wrote to Thomas Jefferson about George Walker and architect Pierre L’Enfant’s dissatisfaction in their work designing the federal city.
