GW at Philadelphia. GW wrote Thomas Jefferson asking for a meeting, along with James Madison, to discuss architect Pierre L’Enfant and his plans for the Federal City.

George Eimbeck, commander of Fort Wayne, wrote GW from Savannah, Ga. asking for GW’s assistance in supplying the fort. Eimbeck wrote that the fort was defenseless, having neither men nor ammunition, and that the Ga. state government had not responded to his requests for help.
