GW at Philadelphia. GW’s personal secretary Tobias Lear sent Thomas Jefferson letters from James Seagrove, agent to the Creek Indians.

Gen. Arthur St. Clair replied to GW’s 28 March letter. St. Clair regretted that an inquiry into his conduct during the disastrous campaign against the Indians would not be conducted, explaining he wished to serve public justice.

Mass. militia soldier Peter Greene wrote GW from Boston asking for a military appointment, but Greene was never granted this request.
