GW in N.Y. In his diary, GW wrote that he spent part of the day riding with Mrs. Washington in their coach. GW also met with many “respectable” visitors.

GW in N.Y. GW wrote in his diary that he transmitted Secretary of War Henry Knox’s plan for a national militia system to Congress.

21 April 1754

GW’s diary entry from 20 April placed him at Col. Thomas Cresap’s establishment near the Potomac River, where he saw evidence of the British surrender of the fort on the Forks of the Ohio.
