William Archibald McCrea wrote GW thanking him for his appointment as a surgeon’s mate in lieu of being appointed Treasurer of the U.S. Mint. He asked that if any higher positions became available that he be considered for them.

Hannah Fairfax Washington wrote her cousin GW in response to his letter of 24 March, which asked for family genealogical information. She related her discoveries concerning his great grandfather and enclosed a memorandum from his brother Lawrence Washington’s book.
