21 February 1775

GW at Mount Vernon. He dined with Dr. William Rumney and Capt. Thomas Marshall. Marshall had come to offer GW command of the Fauquier County Independent Company. GW also met with William Grayson, a lawyer and fox hunting companion, and Colchester merchant Alexander Henderson.

William Milnor wrote back to GW’s letter of 23 Jan., regarding the purchase of muskets and supplies for officers of the Prince William Independent Company. Milnor told him that most of the goods had been ordered and would be sent as soon as possible. He also asked GW whether he would rather pay £4 per musket to have them by July 1 or pay only £3.15 but have lower quality muskets, less punctually.
