GW at Mount Vernon. He wrote in his diary that he sent William Stevens, who was replacing the ill James Cleveland, and a team of people to develop his frontier lands on the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers. He also wrote that Dr. James Craik went with Lund Washington to visit James Cleveland. He hosted Col. Benjamin Harrison, Francis Whiting, and Catesby Woodford for dinner and the night.
GW’s Quaker business acquaintance William Milnor wrote GW a letter saying that he had sent GW pamphlets, one that argued that American grievances with Britain should be settled by petition. He added that the silk sashes and shoulder knots GW had ordered for the militia company would likely be done soon.
