GW in N.Y. GW wrote to the Md. Legislature thanking them for their congratulations on his presidency. He stated his great faith in the character of his countrymen and his hope that the Union would “endure to the latest ages.”
Secretary of War Henry Knox sent two copies of his updated plan for arranging a national militia system to GW. GW wrote in his diary that he received these copies, which were “altered agreeably to the ideas I had communicated to him.”
Rector of Queens Chapel in N.H. John Ogden sent GW a book that Ogden had written to refute prejudices against Episcopalians and to champion the importance of religious liberty.
