GW in N.Y. In the morning, GW went to church at St. Paul’s Chapel. James Wilson—an associate judge of the Supreme Court—paid his respects to GW after he returned from church. GW then spent the afternoon writing letters back to Mount Vernon.
Alexander Macomb wrote to Tobias Lear to discuss the lease for the new, larger house GW wanted to move into for his N.Y. residence. Silas Talbot, a distinguished former Lt. Col. in the Continental Army, wrote to GW asking to be appointed as a harbormaster of N.Y. Talbot was later given a different Naval appointment in 1794.
