GW at Philadelphia. Former Continental army Maj. John Bankson wrote asking to be considered for the office of Inspector of the Militia for the State of Md. An endorsement from John McHenry, GW’s former aide, accompanied this letter. Former soldier Charles Stewart also wrote GW to express interest in a post with the new Land Office, citing his surveying experience. He ultimately did not receive an appointment.
Alexander Hamilton wrote detailing the costs of a seal for the use of the District Court of Maine.
