GW was traveling to or was in Alexandria, Va. with his regiment. Va. Lt. Gov. Robert Dinwiddie wrote GW on this day of the Va. Council’s decision to immediately send GW’s regiment and others over the Allegheny Mountains to either attack the French and take their fort or build a fort of their own. In addition, Dinwiddie asked GW to head directly to Wills Creek, Pennsylvania/Maryland.
